FAIRFIELD — Area residents can celebrate the first day of winter with a free guided hike of Rockville Trails Preserve from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 21.
Hikers can get a great workout as they trek 4 miles up and down the rocky terrain to the interior of the 1,500-acre natural area, which is operated by Solano Land Trust.
There is no drinking water, no bathrooms or parking lots. Hikers can meet their guide at the big red “Ice House” building on Suisun Valley Court, near the intersection of Rockville Road and Suisun Valley Road. They will carpool or caravan from there to the trailhead.
Rain will cancel the event.
Space is limited and advance registration is required – go to www.solanolandtrust.org and click on “events calendar” or call Lorenzo Burch at 330-7263.
Rockville Trails Preserve is adjacent to Fairfield’s Rockville Hills Park, although they are independently operated. Solano Land Trust permanently protects natural areas, working farms and ranch lands in Solano County. Visit www.solanolandtrust.org for more information.
