Faith in Action seeks volunteer peer counselors

By From page A3 | March 03, 2014

FAIRFIELD — Do you have a good ear for listening?

Faith in Action is seeking volunteers, 60 and older, who would like to become peer counselors for some of the elderly care recipients in its programs.

Studies show many seniors who live alone struggle with stress, depression, anxiety and grief or loss. They could use someone to listen to their concerns. If you feel you are that caring neighbor, Faith in Action is offering an eight-to-10-week series of free training modules.

Faith in Action serves seniors who live throughout Solano County. Volunteers will be matched with someone from their own community.

The first training is from 1 to 4:30 p.m. March 19 at the Fairfield Senior Center, 1200 Civic Center Drive.
