FAIRFIELD — Fairfield and Suisun Transit will have extra buses ready Thursday and Friday to take riders to BART stations during the planned Bay Bridge closure.
The Bay Bridge is to close at 8 p.m. Wednesday and reopen at 5 a.m. Sept. 3. That will allow workers to take out of service the original east span between Oakland and Treasure Island and open the new east span. Nearly 300,000 motorists use the bridge daily, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Fairfield and Suisun Transit has two bus lines to BART stations. Route 40 travels from the Vacaville Transportation Center to the Fairfield Transportation Center to the Pleasant Hills and Walnut Creek BART stations. Route 90 travels from the Fairfield Transportation Center and the Suisun City train station to the El Cerrito del Norte BART station.
Parking can be hard to find at the Fairfield Transportation Center. On Thursday and Friday only, 100 extra parking spaces will be available in a marked section of the Target parking lot across the street near Beck Avenue, a city press release said.
