FAIRFIELD — Active military and veteran homeowners in Fairfield, Suisun City, Vacaville, Vallejo and Benicia have until Monday to apply with Rebuilding Together Solano County to get their homes rehabilitated, according to an announcement from that Vallejo-based nonprofit organization.
Rebuilding Together Solano County has been coordinating and organizing extensive renovations of homes owned by local senior citizens, military members and veterans for the past five years and has recently expanded its efforts to help military and veteran homeowners.
Their work with veterans has included work on the Vallejo and Benicia Veterans Memorial buildings, as well as several veterans’ homes in the Fairfield and Suisun City area.
To apply for the program, at least one household member has to be an active or retired military member, or a surviving spouse living in a single-family home in the county. They also must meet low-income guidelines for Solano County, which is making less than 80 percent of the area median income.
Applicants need to call Rebuilding Together Solano County at 580-9360, complete a Military Homeowners Application and submit it by Monday to RTSC, P.O. Box 5996, Vallejo, CA 94591. For more information, go to www.rebuildingtogethersolanocounty.org.
