By From page A5 | January 10, 2014

FAIRFIELD — The Solano County Board of Education is accepting applications to fill the board vacancy in Trustee Area 7.

The former representative, Rozzana Verder-Aliga, resigned after being elected to the Vallejo City Council.

Trustee Area 7 is composed of areas including central, south and northeastern Vallejo.

Although the board adjusted its trustee area boundaries in 2012 as a result of the Federal Census, by law a mid-term replacement must reside in the trustee area that was in place at the start of the departing board member’s term, in this case November 2011.

The new trustee area boundaries approved in 2012 will become effective for Area 7 upon the expiration of the current term in November 2016.

To confirm whether you reside within the Area 7 boundaries, please contact the Solano County Registrar of Voters office at 784-6675.

Applications may be picked up during normal business hours ,8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday starting Jan. 21, in the County Superintendent of Schools office, 5100 Business Center Drive in Fairfield. Completed applications must be received by the County Superintendent’s office by 5 p.m., Jan. 31. Applications will not be mailed or emailed and late submissions will not be accepted.
