FAIRFIELD — A local church and regional community-based organization are making plans for a Women’s History Month celebration late this month in Fairfield.

The event is sponsored by the St. Stephen CME Church Women’s Missionary Society and the Fairfield-Suisun City-Vacaville Section of the National Council of Negro Women. This year’s theme is Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.

Keynote speaker is the Rev. Cassandry Keys, pastor from Davis Chapel CME. This year’s honorees include Solano County Superior Court Judge Ramona Garrett, Fairfield City Councilwoman Pam Bertani, Senior Master Sgt. Stephanie Williams, and Melisha Perkins, a member of the host church.

The Shiloh Baptist Church women’s choir will perform. The event takes place at 3 p.m. March 30 at St. Stephens CME Church, 2301 Union Ave., Fairfield.

Do you suppose the church's focus on women's history will go back to the Garden of Eden? "Hi honey, I just brought home a new Apple product. Check it out!"
