Birds Landing history, Collinsville benefit set

The week aheadBIRDS LANDING — Birds Landing and its history will be the focus of a Solano County Historical Society event – an event that will help raise funds for victims of the recent Collinsville fire.

The society will have its Birds Landing barbecue celebration at noon Saturday at the Birds Landing Firehouse, 2151 Collinsville Road. Birds Landing is a small town in the Montezuma Hills.

The day kicks off with a lunch at the firehouse followed by a stop at Shirley’s Bar, made famous by Clint Eastwood in “Honkey Tonk Man.” The bar features historical photos of the area.

Docents will be on hand to answer questions and point out local landmarks.
