By From page A5 | July 13, 2014

BIRDS LANDING — A barbecue fundraiser hosted by the Solano County Historical Society will benefit the families who lost their homes in the Collinsville fire while offering donors the chance to explore local history.

The Birds Landing BBQ Celebration starts at noon July 19 at Montezuma Fire Protection District Station 52 in Birds Landing.

Docents will be on hand to share the history of the area and point out local landmarks, and the owner of Shirley’s Bar – made famous by Clint Eastwood – will discuss the historical display on the bar’s walls.

A fee includes a meal of roast beef, turkey, side dishes, bread and dessert.

To order tickets, click on the “News” link at www.solcohs.org.

The Birds Landing firehouse is located at 2151 Collinsville Road. From Suisun City, travel about 9 miles east on Highway 12, turn right on Shiloh Road and continue about 6 miles to Collinsville Road. The firehouse will be on the right after about 1 mile.
