Annual library foundation trip boasts New York destinations
FAIRFIELD — Start spreading the news, the Solano County Library Foundation Literary and Cultural Arts Tour is headed to New York, Sept. 25 through Oct. 3.
An array of activities will feature many well-known and some little-known spots in New York City and upstate New York. The trip includes a guided tour of Upper Manhattan, a visit to the Empire State Building Observatory, a ferry ride past the Statue of Liberty and a stop at Ellis Island.
Other highlights include visits to the 9/11 Memorial, Little Italy, Chinatown, the Garment District, the main branch of the New York Public Library and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
There’ll be time to shop along Fifth and Madison avenues as well as take in a play or two on, or off, Broadway.
After five days in the city, the tour travels to West Point in upstate New York.
Along the way, participants will tour Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate and Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Other highlights include a tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a possible cadet review, a Hudson River cruise, a tour of Hyde Park to see President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s home and lunch at the Culinary Institute of America.
The tour is the sixth annual Literary Tour sponsored by the Solano County Library Foundation. Proceeds from the trip benefit Solano County Library programs.
