FAIRFIELD — Solano and Yolo county residents will get the chance to trade in their gas mower for rebates toward an electric mower.
Residents can get $120 off on the purchase of an electric mower. They can choose from 29 models made by 10 different brands and make the purchase online or at a local store.
The program is being sponsored by the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District to help lower air pollution levels.
“There are a number of benefits in switching to an electric mower,” district Executive Director Mat Ehrhardt said in a press release. “Electricity is cheaper than gas, the mowers are easier to operate and far less noisy. But most important is the positive impact of switching on the health of our community.”
Starting March 4, residents can request a voucher from the air district by visiting www.ysaqmd.org/mowers or by calling 530-757-3657. They then must complete the required steps to get the rebate. Please contact Tom Hall at 530-757-3657 or thall@ysaqmd.org for more information.
All Solano County residents are eligible, even though the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District covers only the northern county.
