FAIRFIELD — One person was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle rush-hour crash on Interstate 80 in Vallejo.

The California Highway Patrol received calls at 6:48 p.m. reporting a collision between a Toyota Camry and a tractor-trailer rig on westbound I-80 at the Highway 37 overpass, CHP officer Chris Parker said.

The driver of the Camry spun out for unknown reasons from the far left lane and into the big rig before continuing on to the right hand shoulder.

Parker said the big rig continued west a short distance before coming to a stop on the shoulder.

The Camry’s driver sustained fatal injuries in the crash, Parker said. The driver was described only as a Hispanic male, approximately 50 years old. Parker said the big rig driver was not injured.

No lanes were closed as a result of the crash.
