Silent film event set, proceeds go to RioVision

RIO VISTA — A reservation-only event is bringing back the silent film to Rio Vista.

The matinée will occur from 3 to 5 p.m. April 22 at Hunter Hall, 218 California St.

Dave Moreno at a Wurlitzer pipe organ and vintage vocalist Matias Bombal will give live accompaniment to silent films that feature Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. “Theater-style” refreshments such as popcorn, cookies, soda or water will be available for purchase.

Net proceeds will be donated to RioVision – a grass-roots group dedicated to the city’s future and instrumental in bringing a group of professionals to the city recently for an in-depth look at the city’s needs.
