RIO VISTA — Members of the Rio Vista City Council are set to discuss a pair of agreements this week that focus on improving the downtown and waterfront areas.

The council will first consider a resolution to approve an agreement with the Solano Transportation Authority for planning services as part of the Priority Development Area planning grant for a specific plan for downtown.

Among other things, the specific plan is to identify and update land use standards to be identical to those in the Rio Vista General Plan and zoning ordinances. The specific plan will also identify potential for future development in the downtown area as well as potential transit stops and identify specific parcels for potential redevelopment.

The second agreement up for discussion is one with the California Department of Boating and Waterways for a Tier II boating infrastructure grant to replace the city boat dock.

According to staff reports, the grant would be for $225,000 – 75 percent of the estimated $300,000 to replace the current dock.

The existing dock is 61 years old, needs frequent repairs and is not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the staff report states.

The council’s agenda also includes two consent calendar items:

  • Reappointment of Walter Manos to a four-year term on the recreation commission to expire in 2017.
  • A $23,535 agreement with Solano County to provide funding for aerial imagery services.
