Rio Vista council abandons alley to property owners

By From page A6 | March 05, 2014

RIO VISTA — A handful of property owners saw their yards get a little bigger Tuesday.

The City Council on a unanimous vote approved a resolution to abandon a north-south alleyway that runs through the middle of the block bordered by Third, Fourth, Center and California streets, with the property going to the adjacent landowners.

The alley was established more than 50 years ago to make way for a city water line that ran underground there.

That line burst in 2013, causing significant damage to at least one property. The water line was relocated and the city no longer needs the alley.

The council also voted to continue to the March 18 meeting a public hearing on dissolving the Summerset Landscape and Lighting District for property located in or adjacent to the Trilogy subdivision.
