Council on track to fill recreaction board vacancies

By From page A3 | February 01, 2014

RIO VISTA — The City Council will consider appointments Tuesday for three vacant spots on the Recreation Commission.

Candidates are Ralph Aguilar, Emily Gollinger and Roxanne Patin.

Recent council discussions indicated that members wanted to keep the commission intact with the possibility it could kick-start an effort to grow a recreation department that could be a benefit to all residents. The city currently does not have a recreation program.

The seven-member commission was originally formed in 1979. The issue of what to do with the commission was brought to the council in September 2013.

The new members will replace two with expired terms, Mary Buchanan and Ida May Wagner, and one, Thomas Lamothe, who resigned.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m., One Main Street, in Rio Vista. For more information on the agenda, go to, http://riovistacity.com.
