Natalie Boals, Diana Borchert, Autumn Garrett, Emily Garrett, Shae McCord, Falin McCord, Catlyn McCord, Delaney Ramsell, Danielle Von Ting and Nicole Von Ting of Girl Scout Troop 20113, which represents the Vacaville/Travis Air Force Base service unit, recently toured the state Capitol in Sacramento.
The group was invited by Assemblyman Jim Frazier, D-Oakley, after a visit from him earlier this spring. The girls received a VIP tour of the state Capitol, which included many historical facts that surprised even their moms, wrote Troop 20113 leader Angela Borchert in an email.
The troop sat in on the state Assembly and the state Senate while in session, where they got to hear several bills being voted on.
“For this group of first- through fourth-graders, it was a day they will never forget,” wrote Borchert in the same email.
A couple of days later, the girls made a donation to the International Bird Rescue in Cordelia. The girls donated money from their cookie sales from the previous winter.
The volunteers at the bird rescue were so grateful for their donation that they took the girls on a tour of the facility, which included seeing pelicans, egrets and seagulls, among others.
“I am so proud of these girls,” said Borchert. “They decided as a group to donate their money to the International Bird Rescue.”
“Their hearts are in the right place,” Borchert said. “We are going into our third year together as a troop and they have already done some amazing things together,”
Good job, girls, Keep up the great job of being citizens in the community.
