FAIRFIELD — Fairfield and Suisun City veterans will team up with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano to collect 1,000 turkeys and all the fixings by Nov. 2 to give the area’s needy a good holiday dinner.
This is the second year that the local chapters of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart have worked together to collect turkeys from the public for the Veterans Holiday Food Drive.
The veterans plan to be on duty at the Food Bank’s local warehouse at 2339 Courage Drive in Fairfield from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 2 to collect the turkeys from local residents. They will also be working with local businesses as well.
Those who want to donate money to allow the Food Bank to buy turkeys on behalf of the veterans’ holiday turkey drive can send checks to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County, P.O. Box 6324, Concord, Calif., 94524. Be sure to note on the check that the funds are for the Fairfield-Suisun Veterans Holiday Food Drive.
For more information or how to donate, call Food Bank Food Drive Coordinator Joan Tomasini at 925-771-1315.
