FAIRFIELD — An updated travel policy that requires directors to submit written reports after attending conferences went before the executive panel for the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District on Monday and is set to go before the full board next week.
The update follows a response last July by the sewer district to the Solano County grand jury report that it cost $135,169 for directors and staff to attend conferences from 2010 to 2012.
A report to members of the executive panel for the sewer district included reimbursement guidelines for directors. Reasonable expenses with receipts are reimbursed. Expenses can include rental car costs depending on the location of the conference, bridge tolls, meals and phone calls to the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District office.
Expenses considered personal and which won’t be reimbursed include meals for a director’s spouse or guests, extraordinary room service, movies, massages, honor bar or souvenirs.
Gregory Baatrup, district general manager, reviews all reimbursement requests.
The full board meets at 6 p.m. Monday in the board room at 1010 Chadbourne Road, Fairfield.
