Police to meet with Grande Circle residents

FAIRFIELD — Police are planning a community meeting Thursday with Grande Circle residents to present a safety plan for the area.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in front of 1941 Grande Circle and will feature the Fairfield Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit, command staff and patrol officers.

This will be the latest in a series of meetings that have also taken place on Dana Drive, Phoenix Drive, Crowley Lane and the Hayes Street Area.

Police said the community safety meetings are opportunities for residents to be heard. The meetings often identify, address and resolve community concerns as well as provide opportunities for the Police Department to offer tips and plans for a safer neighborhood, according to police.

Since I moved here in 1986 Grande Circle has always been a dump as is Phoenix Drive, Crowley Lane and Hayes street. I have seen the FFPD meet and set up programs that never work. Goodluck.......

I grew up on Grande Cir from 1971 to 1986. My brother and I were the first customers through the doors of EZMart when it opened. At that time, there where only 4 apartment complexes on the entire street. Most of Dover Villa occupants across the street of Tabor owned there units. Half the apartments on Grande where filled with military personnel. If I where the police, I would be afraid to chase someone around that area now. Development has packed so many apartments in that small area since the late 80's. Lots of places to hide or set up a trap. It is going to be a difficult task to get that area under control. It will not be done without the help of the local residents, that is for sure.

I remember EZmart, what a flash back, same thing with Phoenix it was a decent place to live but if you notice thas a circle also as is Crowley well thats a court but there is something fimiliar to all these areas. I know things got much worse in Fairfield when Suisun cleaned out and demolished the projects seems like roaches they all flooded to Fairfield.
