FAIRFIELD — Construction is underway on the East-West Transmission Pipeline, with work along streets including Pennsylvania, Illinois, Great Jones and Broadway streets before the water project concludes in May.
Fairfield awarded a contract to Bay Pacific Pipelines of Novato to build Segment 3 of the pipeline.
Work on the project will start along Great Jones and Ohio streets, as well as Broadway and Jackson. Work will move to Illinois Street near its intersection with Pennsylvania Avenue and continue north to Broadway Street and then east on Broadway Street to Union Avenue.
Residents and businesses will be notified 72 hours in advance of construction near their properties, Bay Pacific said in a release. Workdays will be Monday through Friday, except holidays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. No-parking zones will be posted and enforced.
Lane closures will affect traffic flow, Bay Pacific said. A reduced speed limit will be enforced.
Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times, Bay Pacific said. Noise levels may be increased at times.
People with questions or special coordination needs should contact Bay Pacific Pipelines job superintendent Bob Hanna at 933-6997 or the city of Fairfield at 428-7485.
