Participants in the job fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will find help in designing a successful resume and mastering an interview. Garamendi, D-Walnut Grove, will join representatives from his Jobs Task Force at 12:30 p.m. at a press conference to unveil the Just Hire One Veterans Hiring Initiative.
Just Hire One, organized by the Jobs Task Force, is a regional initiative to encourage employers in Northern California to pledge to hire at least one veteran at their business. The Jobs Task Force will present employers who have taken the pledge at the press conference. The Just Hire One program was started because of difficulties some veterans, particularly those returning from Afghanistan and Iraq, face finding civilian employment.
Representatives from Covered California, the state’s new health insurance exchange, will also be available to help uninsured families find insurance. The website for Covered California is www.coveredca.com.
Events will take place at the Solano County Events Center, 601 Texas St. in Fairfield.
