FAIRFIELD — The Rev. David C. Isom has been selected to serve on the steering committee of a prestigious project on domestic violence.
Isom, the senior pastor of St. Stephen CME Church and the deputy director of SafeQuest Solano, will serve on the steering committee of the University of Minnesota’s Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community’s African American Domestic Peace Project – Recognizing, Understanding and Addressing Trauma Among Black Battered Women.
“When I began this work while supervising the in-school suspension program within the Tacoma Public School District, I realized that if the faith community didn’t get involved in this work, we would continue to lose children to this horrible social ill,” Isom said in a press release.
Isom served as the senior pastor of Miles Memorial CME Church in Tacoma, Wash., prior to coming to Fairfield. He currently serves on the governing board of the Fairfield-Suisun School District.
