FAIRFIELD — A Monday night fire believed caused by illegal fireworks burned about seven acres off Interstate 80 behind Fairfield Chevrolet, Fairfield Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Luckenbach said.

No one was injured and no structures were burned in the grass fire reported at 9:22 p.m. and brought under control within about 45 minutes, Luckenbach said.

An employee of the Fairfield-Suisun School District, working in the district offices on Hilborn Road near the fire, said she could see flames at the top of the hill.

The fire had threatened a trailer park off Goya Drive, Luckenbach said.

DUH!!!!!! And this year with all the dryness, there will probably be a lot of fires from the legal ones sold in Suisun too, and if any are proven to be because of those, Suisun should be sued!!!!!!!

Any firework stands you see are not going to be selling "illegal" fireworks. I have seen 2 stands so far and both of them are selling the "approved" fireworks that are legal in California. I have purchased these kind of fireworks from one of the stands and there is nothing illegal in them. I swear people are always so quick say, "SUE this, SUE that."

Tristan, the point is they are not legal in Fairfield. It makes no difference what type or where you buy them.

"Common sense' should just be updated to current relevance and called 'uncommon sense' or its long form, 'common short sighted self absorbed stupidity'.

It doesnt matter if legal and illegal both will have the same results if it was to land in dry brush.
