Faith in Action puts out call for volunteers

By From page A6 | August 20, 2014

FAIRFIELD — Faith in Action has put out a call for people who wish to be trained to help homebound seniors across the county.

The not-for-profit organization, which is based in Vacaville, will host a volunteer orientation training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1600 Union Ave.

Once trained, volunteers will help elderly homebound residents by making phone calls, visiting their homes, running errands and helping with grocery shopping, according to a Faith in Action press release. Volunteers will also serve as senior peer counselors and provide transportation to and from medical appointments for Solano County’s homebound seniors.

Those who are handy when it comes to home repair projects are also welcome to receive training.

Advance registration is required. To register or for more information, call 469-6675 or send an email to [email protected]
