FAIRFIELD — A resident of Astoria Drive wants $3,500 from the city after he paid a plumber to work on root intrusion in a sewer pipe.
George Green in the small claims filing Friday in Solano County Superior Court contends the intrusion is in the city sewer connection. He said no trees are in his yard.
“I don’t know where the roots come from,” Green said.
The work on the 1700 block of Astoria Drive was done in August, Green said. He said he’s optimistic about prevailing and paid $55 to bring the matter to court.
“I wouldn’t file if I didn’t think I had a case,” he said.
Gale Spears, spokeswoman for the city of Fairfield, said the municipality won’t comment on the claim because the legal issue is pending.
A Jan. 13, 2014, court hearing is scheduled.
