FAIRFIELD — A 20-year-old Fairfield man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Fairfield Sunday morning, according to Fairfield police.
Police got a call from the Union Pacific Railroad about a possible train striking a pedestrian at 8:30 a.m. and responded to the area behind Ramos Oil near North Texas and State streets to find a body near the train tracks.
Fairfield firefighters and the Solano County Coroner’s Office also responded to collect the victim who was later identified as Ambrosio Andrade. Police turned the accident investigation over to Amtrak. A Union Pacific Railroad representative stated only that the train had struck what he described as a pedestrian trespasser. An autopsy will be conducted this week to determine the cause of death.
