Fairfield fire chief announces retirement

FAIRFIELD — Chief Vince Webster of the Fairfield Fire Department will retire in early April, the city announced Monday in a press release.
Webster will vacate the position April 2.
“Chief Webster has served honorably as our fire chief since 2008, and has been an integral member of Fairfield’s leadership team,” City Manager Sean Quinn said in the release. “We will miss him tremendously.”
Webster grew up in Fairfield. He began his career 30 years ago in the Sausalito Fire Department and came to Fairfield in 1997 as an experienced battalion chief. He rose to lead a department that answers more than 9,000 calls a year.
“It has been my honor to be responsible for an environment in which our staff excels in serving the community,” Webster said in the release.
Webster will continue in community service to Fairfield through his many affiliations and memberships, Quinn said in the release. He and his wife, Sheila, support youth programs and various community improvement projects.

Chief, Take your retirement bonanza and get out of this miserable state while you still can. The cost of living is lower elsewhere. The size and scope of local government is smaller elsewhere. Better human conditions are elsewhere, not here. Why fight horrible conditions here? Wouldn't it be nice to drive someplace without hitting a traffic jam or paying the nation's highest fuel price?----All because some California communist can feel good about the misery they cause. Wouldn't it be nice to buy a home where there's more then 10 feet between the homes so you don't have to listen to your neighbor's fighting and cursing---let alone their rap ''music''? Wouldn't it be nice to go to a grocery store and not have to face union thugs picketing or the ''sons of Obama'' in the parking lot panhandling, selling drugs or burglarizing a car? Wouldn't it be nice to have neighbors without pitbuls chained to a stake in a dried up junk and weed covered yard?
