FAIRFIELD — Fairfield expects Texas Street to be closed at Madison Street through July 3.

This is the latest in a series closures along Texas Street in the downtown during recent weeks. The city is replacing brick paver crosswalks and other decorative, brick paving with stamped and colored concrete. Reasons are to improve aesthetics and reduce maintenance costs, a Fairfield press release said.

A posted detour takes traffic around the intersection. Work is to be finished in time for the Independence Day parade, the press release said.
