FAIRFIELD — The Solano County Coroner’s Office identified a Fairfield man killed in a Sunday accident as Nickolas Rubio, 62.

Fairfield police responded to the 9:30 a.m. accident at West Texas and Fifth streets. Witnesses said a pedestrian was crossing West Texas Street northbound in a crosswalk when he was hit by a pickup turning from southbound Fifth Street onto eastbound West Texas Street, a police press release said.

Police found the 57-year-old driver of the pickup rendering aid to Rubio, who suffered major head trauma and got taken to a trauma center where he died of his injuries, the press release said.
