FAIRFIELD — Authorities were investigating a possible hit-and-run crime after a bicyclist was found injured Wednesday alongside a rural roadway.

The incident occurred during light rain sometime around 7 p.m. on Rockville Road west of Abernathy Road. Information about the incident remained speculative pending further investigation.

A Fairfield man in his 60s was riding a bicycle east on Rockville Road when it appears he was hit by a passing motorist, the California Highway Patrol reports. The man’s bicycle did not appear to have a working light, and no rear reflector was visible at the scene.

There were not witnesses as CHP officers began their investigation.

The man was discovered along the side of the roadway. His condition was not immediately known, although he was conscious while his condition was evaluated in an ambulance. He was taken to NorthBay Medical Center.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Solano CHP office at 428-2100.
