Cheer group to raise money for Youngstrom fund

By From page A12 | September 13, 2012

FAIRFIELD — The cheerleading group SWAT All Stars will collect money Thursday at the Fairfield farmers market for the family of slain California Highway Patrol Officer Kenyon Youngstrom.

The SWAT All Stars will take part in the Flips for Tips fundraiser, performing stunts, tumbling and high-flying tricks in exchange for donations.

According to Mario Gates, team owner, a majority of the team has agreed to give their profits from their regular fundraiser to the Kenyon Marc Youngstrom Children’s Benefit Memorial Fund. For full disclosure, though, he said he is giving his team the option of what to do with the funds, but said he knows they will do the right thing.

The market runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the corner of Texas and Jefferson streets.
