FAIRFIELD — A car fire forced the California Highway Patrol to shut down the North Texas Street off ramp from Interstate 80 for nearly two hours, Tuesday afternoon.
The CHP received the call at 3:51 p.m., according to the CHP Traffic Management Center.
Fairfield fire crews responded as well and had the blaze extinguished quickly.
According to the department’s Facebook page, the vehicle and its contents were a loss.
Officers were forced to close the ramp at 4 p.m., and they called for Caltrans to bring a sweeper and absorbent to clear debris and vehicle fluids from the roadway.
The ramp was re-opened at 5:55 p.m., the CHP said.
