FAIRFIELD — Bunco, anyone?
A bunco night fundraiser will take place Nov. 15 at the Cordelia Fire Hall. It’s for seasoned players as well as those who are interested in learning the game.
The night begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour and light dinner. Play begins at 6:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Fairfield-Suisun Twilight Rotary Club’s charitable foundation, which supports various local youth and senior programs.
This is the Rotary Club’s second bunco event. The first occurred in April.
Bunco is a dice game that has its roots in 18th century England. It’s play during Prohibition in the 1920s gave rise to the term “bunco squads” to describe law enforcement groups who raided speakeasies and other gambling dens.
The game saw a rebirth as a family game in the late 20th century and early this century.
The Cordelia Fire Hall is located behind the Cordelia Fire Protection District station, 2155 Cordelia Road. For tickets or more information, call Nancy Meadows Trigueiro at 427-6927.
