FAIRFIELD — Leaders of the local NAACP chapter will gather Saturday to discuss how to help support implementation of the federal Affordable Care Act.
Board members of the Tri-City NAACP will meet from 11 a.m. to noon at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, in the Zoe Building, Room V115, at 1735 Enterprise Drive in Fairfield.
The organization’s outreach efforts for Covered California, the state’s program to launch the Affordable Care Act, are the results of a recent grant received by the organization, according to a press release announcing the meeting. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting.
The Tri-City NAACP will sponsor or participate in several forums over the next few months where information will be given on all aspects of Covered California, according to the release.
“We’re very happy to be one of the first recipients of a Covered California outreach and education grant,” Tri-City NAACP President Frederick B. Young Jr. said in the release. “Some people in our community have never had health insurance, or have lost coverage when they lost a job. These are the people who need to learn about what Covered California has to offer when enrollment opens in the fall.”
