FAIRFIELD — Vin Diesel stars in the only movie slated to open across the country Friday.
“Riddick” is the story of a fugitive left for dead on a sun-scorched planet. He activates an emergency beacon and gets less-than-friendly rescuers. It’s rated R.
Opening in limited release Friday are:
“My Father and the Man in Black,” a documentary about Johnny Cash told through the eyes of Saul Holiff, the man who put Cash together with June Carter. It’s not rated.
“Sallinger,” rated PG-13, which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Edward Norton in a documentary that looks at the author J.D. Sallinger’s life beyond “Catcher in the Rye.”
“Snake & Mongoo$e,” the untold story of Southern California drag racers Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen. Jesse Williams, Tim Blake Nelson and Noah Wyle star in the PG-13 flick.
“Things Never Said,” which centers on an aspiring poet who is haunted by what she hasn’t accomplished. It’s rated R.
“Tio Papi,” rated PG, about a fun-loving bachelor who becomes uncle daddy to his sister’s six children, ranging from ages 6 through 16.
“Touchy Feely,” rated R, which tells the tale of a free-spirited massage therapist and her very conventional brother. Rosemarie DeWitt, Ellen Page and Allison Janney star.
“The Ultimate Life,” rated PG, the story of a young man who feels his life his unraveling. Things change when he discovers his late-grandfather’s journal. Peter Fonda stars.
“Winnie Mandela,” which stars Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard as Winnie and Nelson Mandela. The drama is rated R.
“Il Futuro,” which has Rutger Hauer playing a blind hermit. It’s rated R.
