VACAVILLE — The Vacaville Gaslighters Theatre Group is bringing “Polter-heist” to the stage.
In this story, everyone is trying to steal something, including a ghost. The characters include Madame Zelda Von Schpookum, president of the Boogeyman Outreach Organization, and a host of wacky other folks trying to make contact with the ghost haunting the Mouldering Pines Inn.
Attendees will also meet professor Lionel Spector, who becomes possessed by the spirit. They’ll also wonder if bickering innkeepers, Jim and Phyllis Lodge, will kill each other before finding the lost treasure.
Then, there’s FBI agents Smolder and Skullery from the Hex Files division. They hope to solve the mystery of the haunted inn before another murder is committed.
The audience is encouraged to wear costumes for the costume contest.
The Vacaville Gaslighters Theatre Group resurrected the comedic melodramas for Fiesta Days nine years ago. A few years later, the group began staging comedic murder-mysteries in a cabaret-style theater.
“We’re very proud of the quality of shows,” said Annie Muehlenbruch, “Polter-heist” director, in a press release. ”We get a lot of patrons that come to every show we do, so we must be doing something right.”
The audience actually becomes part of the show. Muehlenbruch thinks that’s another reason the comedy mysteries have become so popular.
“We want to make people laugh when they go out for an evening,” Muehlenbruch said in the release. “The cast is outstanding, and they’re really working hard on developing their characters.”
Cast members are Tom McPike, David Fickess. Jessica Johnson, Gianna Biagi, Pat Lemley, Dorothy Bletcher and Donna Hoover.
