“This will be an exciting 2013 season here at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom,” said Don McCoy, park president, in a press release. “As the premier destination for an affordable, daylong or multiday visit, fun for all ages, we look forward to providing our guests with thrilling entertainment experiences all season long.”
There are several new offerings for the season. A season dining pass is offered for season pass holders. A new dolphin show will also be introduced.
During the summer, Cirque Dreams Splashtastic will open. The production will feature the park’s marine mammals along with acrobats and aerialists. It is a limited engagement and will close in August.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Cirque Dreams shows have been featured in theaters, theme parks, on Broadway and at casinos.
The park also offers animal interaction programs where guests can swim with a dolphin, shadow a marine mammal trainer or sleep in the building that houses the sharks.
In addition to Fright Fest and the annual Holiday in the Park, there are several special events including a shark week, Latino Festival, Fourth of July fireworks and New Year’s Eve bash.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will be open weekends and select Fridays through May 19. Daily operating hours begin May 24 and run through Aug. 18. After that, the park will be open weekends for Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park.
The park’s parent company recently announced a record revenue season for 2012 with $1.1 billion of annual revenue, the highest in the company’s history.
