FAIRFIELD — The box office receipts get an early jump again as “Closed Circuit,” a thriller with Erica Bana, opens Wednesday.
The plot centers on an attorney for a terror suspect who uncovers a sinister conspiracy. It’s rated R.
On Friday, Ethan Hawke stars in “Getaway,” about a former race car driver who uses the ultimate race car to search for his kidnapped wife. Selena Gomez and Jon Voight also star in the PG-13 flick.
Also opening nationwide Friday is “One Direction: This is Us,” a Morgan Spurlock documentary about the band groomed by Simon Cowell. The PG movie is also being shown in 3D.
Opening in limited release Friday are:
“Afternoon Delight,” about a restless homemaker who adopts a stripper as a live-in nanny. It’s rated R.
“I Declare War,” not rated, about a group of 12-year-olds engaged in a lively came of capture the flag. The game gradually takes on a different tone.
“Instructions Not Included,” a PG-13 film that centers on an irresponsible playboy who has to grow up quickly when a former lover gives him their daughter to raise.
“The Last Flight of the Champion,” an animated movie about a crew of childhood friends who take to the stars in an ancient warship.
“The Lifeguard,” a comedy with Kristen Bell as an almost 30-year-old whose life comes crashing down. Then, she regresses right back into high school life, even reclaiming her high school job as a condo-complex lifeguard. It’s rated R.
“Our Nixon,” not rated, a documentary about the former president. It features footage that’s being shown for the first time.
“Passion,” a drama with Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace as two contemporary corporate women in a power struggle. It’s rated R.
