VACAVILLE — Cheating Daylight, a five-piece boy band with members from Vacaville, took home the 2013 best new artist award from the Malibu Music Awards over the weekend.
The group also performed at the event, which was hosted by actor Robert Hays and comedian Dick Van Dyke. The band has eight nominations in award shows in four separate categories for 2013.
Cheating Daylight, a rock quintet is the Los Angeles Music Awards reigning 2012 Rock Artist of the Year. The 2013 Los Angeles Music Awards are Nov. 15 and Cheating Daylight is nominated for Rock Artist, Rock Album and Rock Single of the Year.
The band will also perform live at the 2014 Artists in Music Awards in Hollywood early next year. They are nominated for three awards there.
Cheating Daylight’s “Road to Somewhere” tour continues with a stop in Lakeport for the Halloween Costume Bash, with Special Guests K-Town and Robbie Jimenez, at the Soper Reese Theatre on Nov. 1.
The band is composed of brothers Jacob Gill and Connor Gill from Cobb and Jesse Crosson, Kyle Crosson and Jaden Crosson from Vacaville. The band’s website is www.cheatingdaylight.com.
