Volunteers can help students build ‘solar suitcase’

FAIRFIELD — People can help build a “solar suitcase” – a portable photovoltaic lighting system – to be delivered to an orphanage in Uganda.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Solano Community College, Building 1800-A, Room 1818. The college is located at 4000 Suisun Valley Road.

Green Technical Education and Employment is sponsoring the event. It trains students for emerging “green” design and construction skills focusing on clean energy, environmental protection and energy efficiency.
