FAIRFIELD — A Solano Community College vice president has been tapped to take over the top job at Mendocino College.
Arturo Reyes, Solano’s executive vice president of academic and student affairs, was recently named the new superintendent/president of the community college in Ukiah. Reyes has held the Solano College position for two and a half years and will make the move official on Jan. 7.
“I am thrilled to accept the superintendent/president position at Mendocino College, although it saddens me to leave Solano Community College,” Reyes said in a press release. “At SCC, I made many new friends, met countless talented students, worked with brilliant colleagues and benefited from the guidance and support of the college trustees and Superintendent/President (Jowel) Laguerre.”
Mendocino-Lake Community College Board Chairman Joel Clark praised Reyes in the press release.
“We are very excited to have found such a wonderful fit to lead our college and district forward,” he said. “Arturo brings the skills and passion we need at this critical time for our students and college community.”
Solano College will conduct an internal search for an interim replacement for Reyes until a permanent replacement can be found. The district plans to have an interim vice president in place by January.
