College board to consider employee group contract change

FAIRFIELD — Solano Community College officials are poised to strike a deal Wednesday with an employee group that will lead to some retroactive pay.

A tentative agreement has been reached between the college district and Stationary Engineers Local 39 in this proposed revision to the 2010-14 contract, which allows certain items to be renegotiated while the base contract remains in effect.

The proposed salary agreement was ratified Jan. 8 by the union. It allows for a 1 percent salary increase for 2013-14 retroactive to July 1, 2013. It must be paid by March 28.

Within 60 days of the ratification, Local 39 and the college will begin a classification review process that will look at job descriptions, inequities, recruitment and retention, according to the proposal. Findings will be reported no later than June 30.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at 360 Campus Lane, Suite 201, Fairfield.
