FAIRFIELD — The city and Solano Community College are exploring a media collaboration that would see the city using the college’s television studio space.
The city lost its space at the downtown theater when it closed due to budget cuts, said David White, the city’s assistant city manager to the college’s Governing Board Wednesday night.
Since then, the current location has caused “operational issues” with the city’s televisions stations, including its flagship channel 26.
The city would utilize the college’s studio space and in turn bring in upgraded equipment and technology. In addition, the city is proposing to open an additional channel for Solano College educational programming.
“We see this as a tremendous opportunity – a win-win for all,” White said.
White cautioned that the city is currently exploring costs and whether it can afford this endeavor. The city attorney is also working on a draft use agreement.
