FAIRFIELD — AT&T representatives presented Solano Community College with a $25,000 grant Wednesday for its African-American Male Trailblazer program.
The program is designed to help black males succeed academically with both a mentoring and support services component. The program will take 65 students who have at least 21 units under their belts already. Recruitment is currently underway, said Karen McCord, a psychology professor at the college.
The program’s goal, McCord said, is to “retain students” and “see them through successful completion of their goals . . . at (Solano College).”
“We are very pleased that AT&T thought we’d be worthy of this grant,” she said.
