Window to open to apply for CHP academy

FAIRFIELD — The California Highway Patrol will be accepting online applications for only a few days in July for the position of cadet.

Applications will be accepted for the CHP’s residential training academy beginning at 8 a.m. July 7 and ending at 5 p.m. July 10.

To be eligible for a cadet job, which pays $4,191 to $5,372 monthly, successful applicants must be 20 to 35 years old, be in good physical condition, pass a written test, pass a rigorous background investigation and have uncorrected vision no less than 20/40.

The CHP academy program is 27 weeks long with cadets receiving more than 1,100 hours of training.

Applicants can submit their information through the online application located at www.chp.ca.gov/recruiting/officer.html.
