VACAVILLE — The Vacaville Police Department was forced to call off a high-speed vehicle pursuit Thursday evening for safety reasons.
Sgt. Scott Whitehouse said the department’s crime suppression team attempted to make a routine traffic stop on a dark Volvo sedan with no license plates just after 6 p.m.
Almost immediately, the subject vehicle failed to yield and bolted, Whitehouse said.
The suspect car led officers on a high-speed chase through south Vacaville, ultimately reaching speeds of 90 mph on Nut Tree Road, when police gave up the chase over safety concerns, Whitehouse said.
There were no reports of the car resurfacing later, though the department had units out looking into the night.
