FAIRFIELD — A jury trial got under way Wednesday for a Vacaville man who faces a murder charge.

Rico M. Espitia, 22, is accused of shooting 20-year-old Quinten D. Nears several times in the parking lot of an apartment building on the 1500 block of Alamo Drive on the night of July 30, 2011.

Judge Donna Stashyn met with prosecutors and Espitia’s defense attorney to finalize details of what witnesses and evidence jurors will hear during the trial. Jury selection is scheduled to start Thursday morning.
