FAIRFIELD — A 16-year-old female who was jogging on a walking trail near Oakbrook Drive in Cordelia was assaulted about 12:20 p.m. Saturday.

A male approached her from behind and asked for directions. The suspect then allegedly attacked the teen. The victim fought back and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The juvenile, who was not injured, ran to her home nearby. A relative phoned the Fairfield Police Department.

Numerous officers were dispatched to the scene. The suspect was not caught following an extensive search that included the use of a police K9 and California Highway Patrol air unit.

The suspect was described as a white adult male, approximately 18 years old, with facial hair, a thin build, and wearing a black shirt and gray sweatpants.

Anyone with information can call the Fairfield Police Department at 428-7300.
