FAIRFIELD — The suspect in the late October deadly shooting of a Fairfield man in the driveway of his Oceanic Court home pleaded not guilty Thursday to a murder charge.
Zavier A.Pigues, 21, who is in jail without bail, was ordered to return to court Jan. 16, 2013, when Judge Robert Bowers may set a date for a probable cause hearing.
Police believe Pigues got into a heated argument with Brian Beaufort, 30, at approximately 3 a.m. Oct. 28 in front of Beaufort’s home. Beaufort’s girlfriend is Pigues’ sister.
The dispute ended with Pigues allegedly shooting Beaufort. The eight-year Marine Corps veteran died a short time later at a nearby hospital.
