Robber strikes Waterman sandwich shop in Fairfield
FAIRFIELD — A masked gunman robbed the Subway sandwich shop on Waterman Boulevard late Friday evening.
A man carrying a handgun took an undisclosed amount of cash from the sandwich shop then fled on foot, police said.
An employee who was alone in the shop called 911 at 9:50 p.m. No one was injured. As of 10:30 p.m., Police were still looking for the robber and had little description of the man to work with.
Police hope to review footage from a nearby surveillance camera.
The robbery comes a day after burglary suspects led police on a chase from Vacaville that ended in the Waterman Boulevard shopping center.
Two men were arrested, included one who hid in Round Table Pizza eating lunch. A third man was not caught.

Such nonsense. An innocent black man eating his lunch at Round table arrested simply because he’s black. Someone supposedly fingered him as a burglar suspect. Come on give me a break. That could’ve been any young black man enjoying a nice slice of pizza and he would’ve been arrested. Let’s face it, racism is alive and strong right here in Fairfield Can.
Yea, you right Jagger. These poor innocent men were just driving on the freeway minding their own business when suddenly the mean old racist Police decided to harass these folk. Never mind that the car and the suspect description fit exactly to a burglary that just occurred in Vacaville. And how dare the Police chase them after they refused to pull over. Those poor folk were fearful of being harassed that they fled. And it is so ridiculous to arrest a man who fit the description of one of those poor folk who was running; the Police should have focused on other ethnicities so they don’t be accused of profiling. And it seems that these poor folk were framed; the Police put a safe in their car that belonged to the burglary victim in Vacaville. How dare they arrest these poor folk; its racism.
Well, Jagger, these three robbery suspects WERE, in fact, black! They’re not going to arrest an innocent young black man nicely eating his pizza. Racism is alive and well – but most of what I have seen is black against white. Like we all owe you something. It would be really nice to go the mall and not see butts hanging out of pants, hear loud yelling or singing, and every other means of attention getting. They want equality and respect and they act like that?? Living in this city has made me more prejudiced from what I see and hear on a daily basis.
I have a couple of older black buddies who are just totally ashamed of todays black youth. I agree with them but also add that it’s ALL of todays younger generation. Most of the time when I see a bunch of youngsters “hanging out” I just have to shake my head no matter what color they are.
What, you never hung out with friends? Kids today are all getting along pretty well. If they didn’t get the negative influences at home, they wouldn’t be a problem.
Of course I hung out with friends. And yes kids in there own little groups do get along with each other pretty well. The wife and I just sat one day at the mall watching people, strange maybe but it’s interesting, but when you watch these groups getting along with each other alot of them however do not get along with other groups. We were like “wow” when we would hear what different groups would say and yell at each other. The gestures they would make back and forth and so on. Didn’t matter what color. All groups with guys with pants sagging with one hand holding them up when they walked. We even saw a boy we knew with pants sagging and acting like he was all that. He would never do that around his parents. His parents were raising him as people would say the right way at home. The problem is once they leave home no matter how they were raised we have no control no matter what anyone says. All we can do is hope they remember what was taught.
We too like watching people. I remember a couple of middle-aged women behind us in a shuttle bus tossing “f” bombs like it was okay. We see young black adults standing around tossing the “N” word loud enough for embarrassed adults and impressionable kids to hear, they don’t care. I see kids of all colors and ages tossing litter and speaking in bad language all the time. I disagree that kids cannot learn and practice good behavior if that is what they learn at home. Sure, there is going to be mischief, they’re kids. But manners and respect will prevail and so will social skills among all races if adults stop passing on their prejudice. Good parenting is a lost art. If you give in and think the kids will do what they want anyway, that is failing them and you.
People need to control their kids and teach them that we are all judged first by our dress and appearence, conduct and speech. I don’t see that happening. What I see instead is the celebration and promotion of an offensive and disgusting ”smash mouth” culture.
I was hoping Jagger’s comments were sarcasm?
I was listening to the events on a scanner and it was methodically worked out. There were cops all over the place and witnesses brought over from Vacaville. I actually thought the pizza-eating idea was pretty slick, but he got caught anyway. I knew that fancy multi- pepperoni pizza was going to cause problems!
that black man was also I parolee. It’s only going to get worse now that they are all being released.
I am sure Jagger would say that this poor innocent Parolee was trying to get his life straight by trying to get a job at Roundtable Pizza…
yea sure.
Proves My Point…
The argument was basically wrapped up as soon as I came across this particular article yesterday…
